-About What Is My IP
Shows the public IP address your connection presents to the internet, along with the approximate location and network provider associated with it.
Public, private and why they differ
Your device on a home network has a private address — typically 192.168.x.x — that is meaningless outside that network. The router translates it to a single public address shared by everything in the house. That public address is what every website you visit sees, and it is what this page reports.
203.0.113.45; IPv6 is longer and hexadecimal, like 2a02:4e0:2db6::1. Many connections have both, and which one a site sees depends on how it connects — so two lookup tools can legitimately report different addresses for you.How accurate is the location?
It is derived from registry records for the address block, not from your device. City-level accuracy is often roughly right and often badly wrong — mobile connections frequently resolve to the operator's gateway city hundreds of kilometres away. It never uses GPS and should not be treated as your actual position.
Does hiding my IP make me anonymous?
No. A VPN replaces the address a site sees, which is genuinely useful, but browser fingerprinting, cookies and account logins identify you regardless. Treat an IP address as one weak identifier among many rather than as the thing that gives you away.
